“Every day we know more and understand less”

Albert Einstein

As often happens, something imposed ends up becoming an enjoyment and an almost vital activity.

The last step during my studies in Conducting was to prepare the Final Degree Project; a “small” research work in the field of musicology directed by Dr. Josu Okiñena. This work, far from being a formality carried out with more reluctance than anything else, became an essential part of my training. I focused it on the composer Eduardo Mocoroa. I knew his music well and he had been my predecessor as conductor of the Santa María Chapel in Tolosa, as had been his teacher, Felipe Gorriti. My research work was almost 500 pages long and the evaluation committee formed by Josu Okiñena, composer Ramón Lazkano and María José Cano rated it with an A-10. It was the beginning of my research activity. Since then I am carrying out my doctoral thesis in the Inter-University Doctoral Program in Musicology of the Faculty of Geography and History of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) directed by Dr. Belén Pérez Castillo.

In 2018 I did an important work to rescue a Basque composer from oblivion: Bartolomé Ercilla. After a critical edition of his production, a large part of his work was presented in the Quincena Musical de Durango (Bizkaia). This work was also recorded and released on a disc.

Below is a list of the activities I have carried out in this field of research and dissemination.
